If your dining room feels a little bland to you， perhaps it's time to give it a new look； or more accurately， an old look. Retro styles are back in a big way and the dining room is actually one of the easiest rooms to give a 60s inspired makeover. It takes a little imagination and a vision for what you want the room to look and feel like when you're finished， but with a little patience， you can find exactly the right pieces and design a dining room which both you and your guests will enjoy dining and spending time in.
Colour： Retro colour schemes are usually inspired by the colours which were in vogue in previous decadespersonalized wedding gifts， but for your dining room， you probably want something which is a little more restrained than many of the colours which were popular in the 1960s. However， a slightly darker shade of light blue than the pastel blued which were widely used at the time can be a good choice for dining room walls which also has something of a calming effect. Furniture： One must-have item if you're planning to go all out with a retro look in your dining room is a dining room table； namely， a Formica topped dining room table with chrome legs and/or accents， along with matching chairs. If your dining room is actually an area in your kitchen， then you may want to think about finding a table and chairs which match or compliment the colour of your kitchen curtains to bring a cohesive look to the room.
Chrome curtain poles are also a good option as they'll compliment and work well with the chrome legs of table and chairs. Not everything needs to match everything else， but a larger piece of furniture or aspect of the room such as your table should work well with at least one other element in the room. If your dining room is especially small， then you might also want to think about a dinette set instead； like the table， bright， primary colours are a good choice， since this will provide a chic， cheery contrast to the more sedate colours of the walls in the room. Even against white or off-white walls， brightly coloured dining room furniture can have this effect.
